Hey 👋🏻 apologies for the radio silence.

Christmas looked very different for me this year. It was our first Christmas without my dad, and it was tough. As many of you know my dad was an absolute legend in every single way! He had the biggest heart and the kindest soul and I miss him so much.

It sent me into a somewhat shut down mode over Christmas and I decided to take some time off of de novo to recoup.

I am looking forward to getting stuck back into the business in the new year, I already have lots of new designs that will be dropping soon!

I thought I would re-introduce you to each design in my collection, as I often end up naturally talking about the latest design rather than telling you about the full collection.

This is the blossom fleece, she is my pride and joy! The lining is a beautiful jersey which makes for a luxury feel and keeps you so super toastie and warm! The flower detail on the collar is a hand drawing by me, and I think it’s the perfect little addition! It’s a practical, timeless piece that I designed with the intention of it being in your wardrobe for a lifetime! 🫶🏻

I thought it would be interesting to open up the often taboo subject of business costs and offer an insight into some of my own expenses I have to factor in when pricing my designs!

There is so much to consider when pricing your products RRP, and I think it’s good to be transparent with your pricing. As a small business owner who is up against much larger brands with very similar pricing it is tough! As ultimately your profit margins are much smaller!

Here are a few insights into additional costs of pricing a garment..

1) Small quantities mean much higher cost per unit, which is hard when you are starting out and wanting to buy more stock but you do not have the budget.
2) Dependent on where your manufacturer is based (one of mine is in Portugal for example) you will get charged an import duty fee of 20% of the total over value
3) It’s super important to me I use the best quality fabrics on the market to create beautiful and durable designs which will last a lifetime in your wardrobe
4) Lots of unexpected additional fees often occur when sampling and developing, as well as expected fees like website host costs and commissions
5) My designs are all made in a sustainably conscious factory - this is integral to me and my business values
6)The cost of swing tags, tissue paper, stickers and packaging have to be considered in the overall cost per unit! As well as so much more!
